HOW TO REFERENCE A GOVERNMENT GREEN OR WHITE PAPER

 

In-text citation

 

Write the Government Department as the author followed by the year of publication.

 

Example

According to the Department of Health (1998), Britain had the opportunity to become a 'healthier nation'.

In 1998, a Government green paper was proposed to help Britain become a 'healthier nation' (Department of Health 1998).

 

Reference

 

Write the Government Department as the author followed by the year and the complete title of the paper in italics. Provide the type of paper, green or white in square brackets, the place of publication followed by a colon then the publisher. Finally, within brackets write the paper number.

 

Example

Department of Health (1998) Our Healthier Nation: A Contract for Health [green paper] London: Stationery Office (Cm 3854)
